History of AAQ

AAQ activists began investigating animal exploitation in QLD factory farms in late 2001.  We covered 15 battery farms and piggeries in the first year. This included the first undercover investigation of a battery hen farm being emptied which has been widely publicised.  AAQ has now expanded to include peaceful protests and investigations of the animal entertainment industries (The Ekka, circuses and rodeos).

Participants in the Animal Activism network have a wide range of experience in social justice advocacy and action, including human rights actions against refugee detention, war, violence against women and children, workers rights, environmental actions against land clearing, the nuclear industry and in alternative media.  Some of us have as much as 25 years experience in activism and are published authors on animal rights and other issues.

We have worked with well-known NGOs including; Friends of the Earth, Qld Conservation Council, Animal Liberation and other Australian and overseas groups.  Our backgrounds include education, philosophy, social welfare, social policy, research, sociology and journalism. These positions have required skills in writing submissions, reading legal documents, writing petitions, letters, and information documents, meeting with elected reps and department heads to organising protests and 'inspections.'

Buy Cruelty Free
Many household items are tested on animals. Animals die painfully every day through cruel animal tests for chemicals, household cleaning products, cosmetics and more.

Luckily, there are a many household products on the market found in most supermarkets that are free from animal testing. Animal Test-Free products are easily identifiable* and are often more friendly on the environment (due to ethically conscious producers). Read the fine print and buy cruelty free!

*Products that ARE tested on animals will not indicate so on the packaging. Refer to our list, rely on confirmation of animal test-free product packaging, or contact the manufacturer..
