AAQ Investigates Circus Cruelty

Outlaw the Animal Circus! - Circuses: No fun for the animals! Unnatural, cruel and oppressive. Outlaw the Animal Circus!

AAQ has investigated a number of circuses in the Caloundra City Council Area and documented cruelty witnessed at Charlie Ridgways Circus, Lorraine Ashton’s Classic Circus, and the Eden Bros Circus. All three circuses breached the Animal Care and Protection Act 4. (1) (b), (d), and RSPCA’s Five Freedoms.

The RSPCA’s Five Freedoms state that animals should have:
  1. Freedom from Hunger and Thirst
By ready access to fresh water and a diet to maintain full health and vigour.
  2. Freedom from Discomfort
By providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area.
  3. Freedom from Pain, Injury or Disease
By prevention by rapid diagnosis and treatment.
  4. Freedom to Express Normal behaviours
By providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animals own kind.
  5. Freedom from Fear and Distress
By ensuring conditions and treatment, which avoid mental suffering.
RSPCA Australia is opposed to exhibitions or presentations of animals in circuses (s1.22 RSPCA Policy).

Object to dissection at school
If you're a high school or university student you need to know that you don't have to dissect animals to pass.  You have a right to conscientiously object to anything you are morally opposed to and the teacher must provide learning alternatives.
