Animal Cruelty complaint to Golden Circle

Gatton University Exhibit

EKKA Exposed - A Tradition of Exploitation: the Brisbane EKKA EKKA Exposed

The Gatton University Exhibit supported by Golden Circle displayed a number of animals from a nervous bitch with pups on full display to a sow with piglets.  The sow’s water supply was extremely inadequate and the bowl at the time was empty.

Evidence of cruelty was gathered at this exhibit including no water supply and inadequate supply of water.  Gatton University is responsible for ongoing breaches of the Animal Care and Protection Act 2001 with the most recent footage being exposed on major evening news on 28th November 2004.  The RSPCA supported the statements made by AAQ that the conditions are inappropriate.

At Gatton University intensive piggery evidence was recorded of undersized single stalls 2 metres by 0.55metres, inadequate fire fighting equipment, sick and injured animals and pigs without water.  These are breaches of the Animal Care and Protection Act , RSPCA’s Five Freedoms and Model Code of Practice for the Welfare of Animals - The Pig (2nd ed).  It is this Code that sets the legal standards. Yet is constantly breached according to the evidence gained from activists and whistle blowers disgusted by the conditions animals are kept in.

Don't visit Animal Circuses!
Behind the costumes and dazzling lights, animals used in entertainment often live their lives in cramped, alien environments, and suffer abuse through violent training and disciplinary techniques.

Wild animals are at home ONLY in the wild. Many cities throughout the world have banned animal circuses, while the best circuses in the world rely solely on human talent such as Cirque du Soleil.
