Victory! 2004: Pearl Exhibit is removed from Brisbane's Ekka
Activists inspected gold fish at the Japanese Pearl Exhibit, the exhibit advertised fish as the “Living Showbag”. The English backpacking staff were seen to collect fish from a net in their hand and place in a two and a half litre tank or bag with four centimeters of water. Staff were also heard telling customers that the tank was suitable to house the fish in permanently. Veterinary advice does not support this statement. Other issues: Children tapping on glass, adult knees knocking glass, impulse buying.
The 'Living Showbag' exhibit sinks at the EKKA, 2004.
